This is a wonderful opportunity for a colleague to join our thriving and successful school to assist us in achieving even greater success.

The school has been through change in recent years including joining the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP) Multi Academy Trust alongside a number of our feeder schools and Gordano, Backwell and Churchill secondary schools.

The school has a distinctive character and ethos which is unashamedly child-centred and emotionally intelligent in the way relationships are managed between staff, parents, students, and governors.  The school has a House system at the heart of its culture with vertical tutoring as a key facilitator.  There are four houses - Bilbie, Hauteville, Moreton and Rodney.

This is a full-time, permanent post, to teach Drama to all ages and abilities up to and including the Sixth Form, should numbers allow. Please visit the school website for further information about the school including a visual prospectus which will I hope give applicants a better understanding of the range of opportunities here for staff and students which make school life so successful and enjoyable.  You will be joining an enthusiastic, vibrant, and forward-thinking school staff body.

The Post:

The successful applicant will teach a balanced timetable across year groups and the ability range.  At Key Stage 3 all students study Drama for the equivalent of one period a week as part of a two-week timetable. Students who opt for Drama at Key Stage 4 study the OCR GCSE and those who continue into our Sixth Form study the Cambridge Level 3 CTEC in Performing Arts.

It is important that applicants recognise the safeguarding responsibilities that all adults in schools hold, and the checks that are needed to allow all adults in school communities to work there. The role will involve contact with students in the school, and the successful applicant will need to fully understand, and undertake regular training updates on, our safeguarding protocols and how to report on these if needed.

Chew Valley School, which is part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership multi-academy trust, offers a contributory pension scheme, a comprehensive employee assistance programme and benefits (offering discounts on shopping), cycle to work scheme,  and on-site parking.

The Lighthouse Schools Partnership - Chew Valley School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all in its community to share this commitment. Suitability to work with children and young people will form part of the selection process. As part of the shortlisting process an online search will be carried out. All appointments will be subject to vetting, including an enhanced DBS check.
